Incontinence Detection Project
General Team 2021-2023
For individuals living with spinal cord injuries, managing episodes of incontinence can be unpredictable and challenging. Recognizing these occurrences can be especially difficult for nurses, making it critical to address patients' needs promptly. Our solution employs moisture and gas sensors to effectively detect these incidents and promptly alert nurses, ensuring timely and responsive care
Wheelchair Buddy
Competition Team 2021-2022
The purpose of the wheelchair buddy is to make the world more accessible by extending a wheelchair's functionality. A person with severe spinal cord damage may not be able to use the arms and legs but can still be extremely independent by using a Sip-and-Puff device. The device will use several sensors and inputs to allow for the control of a robotic device to allow a user to interact with their environment in simple ways. Imagine being able to push elevator buttons and accessible door buttons without having to lift a finger. This team is working to compete in the 2022 RESNA design competition.
Contactless Wound Measurer
General Team 2020-2021
A completely contactless projected ruler. The purpose was to keep nurses safer from contamination as well as a cleaner alternative for patients. The device also increased efficiency and was able to take photos to keep track of the wound healing progress.
Weight Bearing Meter
General Team 2020-2021
The goal was to design a device to signal the patients when a specific threshold partial weight on the feet is reached during rehabilitation exercises (i.e. walking, climbing stairs, etc). Patients include people who had a limb injury or disease and lost their motor skills (partially or completely)
